Sacred Games season 2 cast reveal

Kalki Koechlin, Ranvir Shorey and Pankaj Tripathi in season 2 of Sacred Games

Netflix on Monday released the first teaser of Sacred Games second season, captioning it "Iss khel ka asli baap kaun?" (Who is the master of this game?). The teaser hardly reveals much, but viewers may be pleasantly surprised to see additions of two new kingpins in the cat-and-mouse, gritty chase. It is based on the novel by Vikram Chandra.

Sacred Games was the first Netflix original series from India. It was created and co-directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, with Varun Grover serving as one of the writers, along with Smita Singh and Vasant Nath. Motwane shared directing duties with Anurag Kashyap, who will return to co-direct season two with Neeraj Ghaywan, who fills in for Motwane.

"Khel chahe jitna bhi kathin ho, Guruji ke paas saare uttar hai"
In brief introductions, Kalki Koechlin and Ranvir Shorey's characters are shown, suggesting that these two new people could very well change the course of the narrative. Back with a bang of course are Sartaj Singh (Saif Ali Khan) and Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), along with Pankaj Tripathi, who is expected to have a more prominent role in Season 2.

While several fans wondered about whether Radhika Apte would be making a return (her character was killed off in season one), others were surprised to see Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Ganesh Gaitonde in a snappy suit. However the biggest question on everyone’s minds was the release date, which Netflix did not reveal in either the video or in the two Instagram posts that introduced fans to Ranvir and Kalki’s characters. “Just tell us the launch date,” one fan demanded. “Is she the daughter of Gaitonde and Kuckoo,” asked another.

Fans also shared memes in reaction to the trailer. The first season of Sacred Games was one of the most meme-friendly show in recent memory. Sure enough, one fan asked Netflix if a Jon Snow-esque resurrection was on the cards for Katekar, who was slain in season one. Another fan suggested an Avengers: Endgame-style time travel plot needs to be hatched to bring back Katekar.
